Austin Andrade earned his Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance from Texas Christian University in 2022, studying under Dr. David Begnoche. He went on to earn his Master of Music in Trombone Performance at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts in 2024, where he studied with Barry Hearn.
Austin brings great depth of performance experience to his lessons. In 2025, he was runner-up in the International Trombone Association Alto Trombone Competition. In 2024, he participated in Round Top Summer Music Festival, in which his brass quintet won the Round Top Chamber competition, performing Joan Tower’s Copperwave. He has had the opportunities to perform solo trombone in many pieces, notably the Tomasi Fanfare Liturgiques, and Waespi’s Audivi Media Nocte.
He currently performs as a substitute with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, among other orchestras.
Austin’s teaching style combines love for great music, expertise, and pedagogical knowledge, along with his easy style and care for his students’ best.
In his free time, Austin enjoys playing pickleball, softball, hiking, and traveling.
