Clare Adkins Cason began violin studies at the age of 4, with help from parents and older siblings in her large musical family. She attended the University of North Texas, where she was chosen as Outstanding Undergraduate in Music. Presently she holds leadership positions in the Sherman Symphony, East Texas Symphony, and the Dallas Bach Society.
Teaching, however, has been her chief enthusiasm, and in addition to maintaining an active private studio, she is the author of the thirteen-volume Mountain Road series for violin and viola students.
In addition, she is blessed to be able to play chamber music periodically with other members of her family as the Adkins String Ensemble. As a sideline Clare enjoys playing Irish fiddle music, and serves as music director of the O’Flaherty Irish Music Youth Camp and the North Texas School of Irish Music.
She and her husband David, a cellist, live in the country with a sizable family of rescued dogs and cats.
Clare’s playing is featured on several recordings including the following:
- Adkins String Ensemble (Clare and her siblings)
- Les Arts Florissants with the Dallas Bach Society (a short opera followed by instrumental pieces by the French Baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier)
