Percussion

Taytum Guzman is an accomplished percussionist and music educator with a passion for developing the next generation of musicians.  A four-time state champion with the Calallen High School Percussion Ensemble, Guzman’s early success set the stage for a distinguished career in music education.

He pursued music studies at the University of North Texas, one of the nation’s premier percussion programs, studying under Paul Rennick, and continued his education at the Texas State University College of Music, where he studied under Genaro Gonzalez and performed with the Texas State Symphony Orchestra.  His performance background also includes extensive experience with Drum Corps International (DCI), both as a performer and educator, contributing to ensembles known for their excellence and innovation in marching percussion.

As a freelance percussion educator, Guzman has worked with over 20 Texas high school programs, offering instruction in concert, marching, and chamber percussion.  His public school teaching experience includes serving as a music teacher for Ennis ISD, Percussion Director for Beeville ISD and Sinton ISD, and later as the Head Band Director for Beeville ISD, where he led successful and engaging music programs that emphasized both technical precision and artistic expression.

Taytum is thrilled to join Bonham Conservatory, where he continues to inspire young musicians through his commitment to excellence, creativity, and the lifelong joy of music-making.

In addition to his work in music education, Taytum is also a licensed real estate agent, bringing the same dedication and professionalism to helping families find their homes as he does to helping students reach their musical goals.  He currently resides in Blue Ridge, Texas, with his wife and daughter, where he continues to balance his love for family, music, and the great outdoors.
